One of our favorite features of our custom-built home at 213 Georgetown Road is the detached garage with a full apartment upstairs! It’s made up of a bedroom, full bathroom, kitchen, and a living room. With all that space—not to mention the privacy!—there are several things you can do with this part of the home. Below are some of our ideas to get you inspired. This home has already been snatched up, but if you like what you see, don’t hesitate to reach out to us and we can find you something similar!

Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU)

Use this space to its full advantage—and earn some extra income!—by turning it into an ADU. An ADU is defined by the City of Raleigh as a second dwelling located on or adjacent to an existing single-family residence. It may be used as a rental unit for short- or long-term stays.

Guest Apartment

Keep the extra apartment in the family by turning it into a guest space for family/friends who come into town to visit. They will love not having to get a hotel room, and they’ll be just close enough without being in your hair throughout their stay.

Home Office

If you work from home, this space is perfect for setting up a private home office. You’ll still kind of feel like you’re getting out of the house, even if you’re just a few feet away! With the kitchen, you can even prepare your lunch there without having to trek back to the main house.

Yoga Studio/Home Gym

Skip the gym membership and deck out your extra space with all the equipment you may need to do a full workout from home. The shower will definitely come in handy for rinsing off, and you can keep energy drinks, power bars, etc. in the kitchen!

In Need of Extra Space?

There are countless other uses for this detached full apartment. And the home itself—complete with three floors, four bedrooms, and four bathrooms—is a prize in itself.
