You have chosen the land, the framing is done, the tile has been picked out and installed, the floor has been stained, and you are ready to make your custom-built home from Urban Building Solutions your own. Here are a few of the last steps before you move in.

Appliances

2408 Kilgore Avenue: Custom Build by Urban Building Solutions

When it comes to ordering your appliance suite, make sure you place the order early. Lately, we have noticed that items such as refrigerators, dishwashers, and more have been coming in later than usual due to COVID-19. Installing the appliances is one of the last things to be done but if they do not arrive on time, it can lead to delays that can keep you from moving in on time.

Final Walkthrough

220 Georgetown Road: Custom Build by Urban Building Solutions

When the house is completed and your appliances are in, it is time for a final walkthrough with UBS founder and owner, Hank McCullough. Hank and his team will walk you through all of the features and the operation of various systems and components throughout your home. He will also go over warranty coverage and procedures. You will receive detailed information about all aspects of the house including water cut-offs, dryer vents, HVAC systems, etc.

This walkthrough is the time to look for any items that need to be corrected or adjusted. If something does not look exactly as you hoped it would, we want to know. This is a detailed walkthrough and can take some time but we want to make sure you understand everything about your new house.

Urban Building Solutions Custom Build Handbook

The Urban Building Solutions team will leave you with a handbook that covers everything you need to know about your custom build. From the information booklets that came with each of the fans to the insurance information about your refrigerator, UBS will compile it all into one place for you. The notebook will also include blueprints of the house, suppliers, and more.

The vendor list in the notebook will have the contacts of all of the suppliers that worked on the house. This includes where the cabinets, paint, appliances, and countertops were from. This way, if you need to purchase more of something down the line or have a question, you know who to contact.

Don’t Forget About the Utilities, Power, Internet, Cable, and Mail

On your move-in date, you will need to turn on or switch the utilities to your name. This includes electricity, water, cable, and internet. Also at this time, you need to make sure your mail is now coming to the house. Our team is here to help with any questions you have about this procedure.

Here are the Keys πŸ”‘

Last but not least, we will remove the lockbox from the door and hand over the keys. Extra keys to the home can be found in the handbook.

We recommend ending your home building journey with a house warming party! πŸ˜‰
